Policy overview

Abbett inspects each piece before delivery. Because many pieces are handcrafted, made to order, customized, engraved, resized, or produced around a specially selected gemstone, return eligibility depends on the item type, condition, timing, and inspection result.

  • Eligible full-price standard jewelry may qualify for a 30-day return or exchange.
  • Incorrect items, confirmed production errors, manufacturing defects, and workmanship defects remain protected.
  • Custom and personalized pieces are generally excluded from change-of-mind returns, but they remain covered for confirmed production errors, qualifying defects, and covered warranty issues.
  • Nothing in this page limits any mandatory consumer right that cannot legally be excluded.
No unauthorized returns: contact Abbett and receive written authorization before sending jewelry back. Refusing delivery or shipping to an old address does not by itself make an item eligible for refund.

Returns and exchanges

To request a return or exchange, contact Abbett within 30 calendar days from the carrier delivery date. Eligibility is confirmed only after Abbett receives and inspects the item.

Eligible standard items

Full-price standard items may qualify when unworn, unaltered, undamaged, and returned with original packaging, tags, certificates, reports, accessories, and proof of purchase.

Sale items

Sale or discounted items are generally not eligible for a cash refund, but an unworn and unaltered sale item may be accepted for exchange when it is not marked Final Sale.

Return request requirements

  • Your full name and Abbett order number.
  • The item you want to return, exchange, or have inspected.
  • The reason for the request.
  • Clear photos or video when the item is incorrect, damaged, or defective.

If approved, Abbett will provide return authorization, the correct return address, packaging instructions, customs instructions where applicable, and the deadline for dispatching the return.

Custom, personalized, and altered jewelry

Custom orders generally are not eligible for change-of-mind returns because they are produced specifically for one customer.

  • Bespoke or custom-designed jewelry.
  • Jewelry made from a customer's drawing, photograph, sample, or specifications.
  • Modified standard designs, custom settings, custom-cut stones, or specially sourced gemstones.
  • Engraved jewelry, customer-requested resizing, altered items, or pieces produced after customer-specific CAD approval.
Still protected: custom and personalized jewelry remains covered for incorrect production that materially differs from the approved order, confirmed manufacturing or workmanship defects, and qualifying Limited Lifetime Warranty issues.

Minor differences caused by hand finishing, polishing, gemstone cutting tolerances, lighting, screen display, metal reflection, gemstone color behavior, or reasonable manufacturing tolerances are not automatically considered defects.

Refunds, costs, and refused delivery

Approved refunds are issued only after the return is delivered to the authorized return address, inspected, approved, and any permitted deductions are calculated. Refunds are generally issued to the original payment method.

Costs that are normally non-refundable

  • Original shipping, rush shipping, return shipping, shipping insurance, customs duties, import taxes, brokerage fees, and clearance charges.
  • Grading, certificate replacement, engraving, resizing, design, sourcing, and other non-product service fees.
  • Costs caused by missing or damaged packaging, reports, certificates, accessories, or promotional gifts.

If an original order received free shipping, Abbett may deduct actual outbound shipping and handling costs from a non-defective return where permitted by law. No shipping deduction applies when the return results from a confirmed Abbett production error, covered defect, or incorrect item sent by Abbett.

Packages refused, returned to sender, left unclaimed, or returned without authorization will be handled according to the published Refund Policy, this page, and Abbett's Shipping Policy. Custom and personalized items do not become refundable merely because delivery was refused.

Limited Lifetime Warranty coverage

Abbett offers a Limited Lifetime Warranty to the original purchaser for qualifying Abbett jewelry. The warranty covers qualifying damage that occurs during normal wear and ordinary use, together with confirmed manufacturing and workmanship defects.

  • Manufacturing or workmanship defects confirmed after inspection.
  • Structural failure occurring under normal wearing conditions.
  • A soldered joint or component failing during normal use.
  • A gemstone becoming loose because of a qualifying setting or workmanship issue.
  • Damage to a setting, prong, band, clasp, or other component that occurs during reasonable and normal use.

Warranty coverage is subject to Abbett inspection. Abbett may request photographs, videos, order records, maintenance information, or physical return of the jewelry before determining whether an issue is covered.

Conditional remedy: the Limited Lifetime Warranty does not automatically provide a refund, exchange, or full replacement after the 30-day return period. Abbett determines the appropriate repair, replacement part, remanufacture, or other reasonable remedy after inspection.

What the warranty does not cover

The Limited Lifetime Warranty does not cover damage or loss caused by misuse, unreasonable use, human error, accidents, improper care, or unauthorized work.

  • Dropping, crushing, bending, pulling, snagging, striking, sports, manual work, or other high-impact activity.
  • Improper cleaning, storage, maintenance, or exposure to bleach, chlorine, acids, household chemicals, cosmetics, extreme heat, or unsuitable cleaning products.
  • Loss, theft, unexplained disappearance, loss of the entire item, or intentional damage.
  • Repair, resizing, engraving, polishing, stone setting, plating, or alteration by an unauthorized third party.
  • Incorrect ring sizing information supplied or approved by the customer, changes in finger size, or damage during unauthorized shipping or handling.

Minor surface scratches, gradual reduction in polish, patina, rhodium-plating wear, cleaning, polishing, routine inspection, and cosmetic changes that do not affect safe or functional use are generally routine maintenance rather than covered damage.

Gemstone damage or loss may be covered only when Abbett determines that the issue occurred during normal use and was caused by a qualifying setting, structural, material, or workmanship issue.

How to request service

Email help@abbett.com before sending jewelry. Include your order number, a description of the issue, clear photographs or video, details of when and how the issue occurred, and information about any prior repair, resizing, or alteration.

For a confirmed covered issue reported within 30 days of delivery, Abbett will normally cover reasonable authorized return-shipping costs. For warranty requests after 30 days, the customer is normally responsible for shipping the jewelry to Abbett using a trackable and insured service.

If inspection determines that the issue is not covered, Abbett may offer a paid repair quotation, return the item without repair, or discuss another available solution.

Frequently asked questions

Can I return a custom order if I changed my mind?

Usually no. Custom, personalized, altered, engraved, resized, and specially produced jewelry is generally not eligible for change-of-mind returns. These items remain protected for confirmed production errors, qualifying defects, and covered warranty issues.

Does the warranty cover normal wear?

The warranty may cover qualifying functional damage that occurs during normal wear and ordinary use, but routine cosmetic wear and maintenance are not automatically covered. Abbett must inspect the item before confirming coverage.

Are third-party repairs allowed?

Unauthorized repair, resizing, engraving, polishing, plating, stone setting, or alteration may void coverage for the affected item or component. Contact Abbett before another jeweler performs work.

Can I send jewelry back before approval?

No. Please wait for written authorization and the correct return address. Unauthorized returns, refused deliveries, and packages sent to an old address may be delayed, refused, or handled with shipping and handling deductions where allowed.

For returns, exchanges, warranty requests, repairs, or order cancellations, contact help@abbett.com. Customer service hours: Monday-Saturday, 8:00 AM-8:00 PM, UTC+8.
